Tilly at Four

We continued Tilly's training in 1999, when she was three. We taught her to lunge and introduced her to blinkers.

In May 2000, at the age of four, she was broken to harness by Minta Winn. When she came home, I drove her in the field and all went well until I changed the wheels on the cart from pneumatics to solids. (I was fed up with getting punctures: I had even had a blow-out when I was driving our donkey!) Having put the new wheels on, we hitched up the donkey and he was quite happy. Then we hitched Tilly. She wasn't at all happy and took off bucking. So we went back to Minta, after which Tilly went fine and we ended the season on a good note.
