Our review

Welsh ponies are only one of the native breeds. Britain and Ireland have a rich heritage of native ponies: the Highlands, the Dales, the Fells, the Exmoor, the Dartmoor and the New Forest.

The late Anthony Dent wrote extensively on equine history. This work was originally published in 1962 as "The Foals of Epona". It covers the period from the Bronze Age to the early twentieth century.

It is well-illustrated with nearly 70 line drawings and eighty photos.

A fascinating book on our equine heritage.
